Sanitation and Wastewater Treatment

BioTiv Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Plant

Currently, the water quality is declining due to the contamination of various pollutants in water, which makes the water unsuitable for consumption and other usages. Simply, clean water is becoming one of the biggest concerns of the twenty first century. To solve the problems of wastewater, various waste water treatment methods has been applied, but the existing and traditional waste water treatment methods like Active Sludge Treatment, Microbial Treatment, Chemically Enhanced Primary Treatment (CEPT), Advanced Integrated Pond System (AIPS), Aerated and Non-Aerated Lagoons, etc, are expensive and in most cases are either impractical or unsuitable for smaller communities and certain industries.

We have developed an alternative wastewater treatment system the BioTivTM Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Plant. This is a Wastewater Treatment System where Bacteria decompose waste, Aquatic Plants clean the Effluent and Disinfection finally makes the water clean for non-potable Re-Use or safe Disposal into the Environment.

How the System Works

The first stage of the treatment is the use of bacteria which decomposes human waste anaerobically leaving a very small amount of sludge that settles in our specially designed collection chambers. Across the chambers, suspended solids are allowed to settle down forming a small layer of sludge.

Following this effluent is fed into the Macrophyte Treatment System. Here, specially grown aquatic plants (Macrophytes) with a finely sized and highly dense root system treat the Waste Water. Finally, clean, odorless effluent is then disinfected and collected for non-potable re-use i.e. irrigation, cleaning, flushing toilets or it is disposed safely to the environment.
